When it comes to cooking, many of us tend to stick to what we know and what we've grown up with. We follow traditional recipes passed down from our families or stick to classic dishes that are tried and true. There's absolutely nothing wrong with preserving these traditions, and in fact, it's important to do so to honor our heritage and cultural identity.
However, sticking to tradition doesn't mean we can't experiment and try new things in the kitchen. By building on the foundations dishes, we can create new and exciting variations that still retain the essence of the original. This ca be a great way to keep our culinary traditions alive while also embracing innovation and creativity.
One way to break out of the traditional cooking pattern is to experiment with new ingredients or techniques. For example, instead of making a traditional layered lasagna, you might try making a skillet lasagna. This involves cooking the pasta, meat sauce, and cheese all together in a single skillet, rather than layering them in a baking dish.
Skillet lasagna is a great option for busy weeknights or for anyone who wants to streamline the cooking process. It's also a fun and unique way to present a classic dish.
Here I have a quick and easy lasagna that you can make in under an hour. It's lighter, yet still packed with all the flavors you love! Go on, try it, and let me know how you did it.
Heat olive oil, and saute garlic and onion until onions softened.
Add in ground beef, cook until it turns brown, and remove garlic.
Add in crushed tomatoes, and stir well. Let it simmer while you prepare your pasta sheet.
Break the lasagna pasta sheet into square pieces.
Cook pasta in boiling water for about 5 minutes or 2 minutes less than what is stated in the package instruction. Add about 1 tablespoon salt.
While the pasta is boiling, check the sauce and stir occasionally to avoid it from burning at the bottom.
Once pasta is done, transfer immediately to the sauce and mix well.
Lower the heat, and start to layer the cheeses as per the video.
Transfer to 375F oven and bake for 25 - 30 minutes.
